The Ghost Walk was a lot of fun, as we had the chance to speak about and show off the hotel and talk about the spirit residents to the touring guests.
We asked the guests to be aware of their senses in the room: Did they smell Phil's smoke? Did they feel Steve touch them?  Were knocks, taps or
voices heard? How about feeling the presence of the spirits?  Also, we cautioned the guests that they might feel dizzy, nauseous, chilled, start to
cough or headaches begin. Interaction with the guests was wonderful as numerous comments were reported to us of the smell of smoke and flowers,
many reported being touched, with one woman saying the top of her ear was pushed down, and another lady stating her weak shoulder was hurting
where it was fine before entering into Phil's room. Several guests commented on their awareness of the spirit's strong energies throughout their tour
of the rooms and hallways.
After the tours were finished for the day, several guests returned to speak of their experiences in a particular area or room.
Janet, the Group Sales Manager at the
Carson City Visitors Center,  and also a
team member with the Thin Veil
Investigators ghost hunting group,
invited me to be a docent with her at the
St. Charles Hotel during the Carson City
Ghost Walk on October 23, 2010. I
jumped at the chance as I've had the
fortunate experience to investigate this
building for the past five years. It would
be fun to 'show off' the hotel and tell
other's of  it's wonderful 'spirit
residents.'
October 23, 2010
This hotel, built in 1862, has much
paranormal activity. We 'Thin Veil
Investigators have had the opportunity
to meet wonderful spirits, including
those dating back to the hotel's
beginning to those who have crossed
over in recent years. In the 1990 and
2000 decades, this hotel became a
place where many chose to spend their
remaining years. The residents became
family, the hotel became their home.

Many, although crossed over, never left.
We are most familiar with several spirit residents that recently crossed.  And they are:
*Norm - a gentle soul who loves
to have visitors talk with him in
his room.  He gets very sad
when he isn't acknowledged, as
the orb in this photo taken by
his room shows the frown.

Listen to his laughter on
an EVP taken in his room.
*Larry - a 1970s  heavyweight contender by
the name of "Fighting Irish Pat Duncan - can
be found spending his time on the staircase
from the second to third floor. If you've
taken pictures of this area which have orbs in
them, you can bet it is Larry's energy. Like
in this picture.

Hear him reply to me in
this EVP: "Yes, Ma'am"
*Steve is a big, burly Teddy
Bear of a man. He loves to
follow you around the hotel
on your visit, and especially
likes you say hello to him in
his room.  Be sure to prop
the door open though, as he
likes visitors so much he'll
make the door stick closed
so you can't get out of his
room.
Watch an 18 second clip of
Steve's energy showing as
a shadow in his room.
Janet's motion detector
camera set into his room
one evening captured this
amazing video!
Here is a picture of his
energy orb in his room.

*An old woman who lives on
the third floor, who refuses
to tell us her name,  who
looks like the Wicked
Witch of the West on the
Wizard Of Oz movie, pulls
up the bedspread or
rumples the bed linens.
This photo was taken just
after she pulled the spread
material upwards.
Watch this video clip that
Marilyn captured of an
anomaly floating across
the old woman's  bed.

*Phil is the grouchiest resident. He likes
to pull women's hair, and lets you know
he isn't pleased that you are in his hallway
or in his room. He's very territorial and
on many occasions, we have discovered an
EVP on our digital or tape recordings with
explanatives of exactly how he feels about
us in his part of the hotel! We've taken
hundreds of pictures in his hallway and
room, each showing Phil's energy orb,
such as in this photo.

Watch this clip of the
microwave oven's beeping
while I was taking
pictures in his room. Mind
you, the microwave was
not plugged in at the time.
(turn speakers up)
All of the above mentioned spirits show themselves to us on film as
orbs, mist, photo anomalies, on video as ectoplasm and shadows,
and through EVP with voices, music, taps & knocks, and
communications via dowsing rods and several types of EMF
detectors.
Listen to an EVP of Marilyn's with a
woman spirit responding to her question.
Watch the dowsing rods acting up for our
ghostwriter.
Watch ectoplasm spray onto Sandie's
camera lens. (squeaky floors)
Look at an anomaly floating downwards.
But not all of the activity surrounds once live adults. There is a small boy, who, for years, has been calling for his
mother, as you can hear in this EVP Janet captured.

His voice has also been captured apologizing as in this heart wrenching and very rare type of EVP. There are two
spirits talking at the same time. First, listen to the voices, then listen again focusing only on hearing the little boy
say, "I'm sorry mommy." Next, listen again, this time focusing your hearing to the girl spirit saying, "It's alright if you
don't eat that."
We've been privy to their pranks such a slamming doors on us,
locking us inside their room, being pushed down the stairs, cold air
chilling our skin, being patted on top of the head, feeling hands on
our shoulders, being poked in the back, and numerous other
happenings.
For many years, a Cat's "meow" has been captured on EVP. The hotel's manager stated that during a recent
renovation, a dead cat was found in the attic. Here is an EVP that Janet captured of the cat meow. Turn up the
speaker and listen closely as the sound is faint.
Paintings. There are two paintings that are haunted in this hotel. One, the scene of trees in a sloping
field with canyon and mountains in the background, was once hanging on the wall by The manager's
(Linda) office. It kept falling down. She examined the wire hanger and it would be intact. The nail in
the wall hadn't fallen out or bended. The picture would be rehung only for it to fall off the wall once
more. Linda finally took the painting and stored it in the convention room.
Another painting is of a forest, mountain and river scene. It is a gloomy and dark portrayal of a
forest, and the first time I laid eyes on it I  knew it was haunted: it feels scary, things moved in the
trees, the river water dripped out of the painting. This painting was also stored in the convention
room after our investigation in 2005.
The most interesting fact about these paintings is right after they were set into the convention room,
they hid themselves for four years. Linda scoured the hotel from top to bottom those years searching
for the two paintings. No resident hung them in their room. They were nowhere to be found.

Linda readily agreed to my request of an investigation of St. Charles one weekend in April of 2010.
We arrived that Saturday and Linda said she had a surprise for us. The Thursday before, she walked
past the convention room and both paintings were leaning against the wall,  quite visible to anyone
walking by. Linda stated the paintings were not in the room on Wednesday.

I had the wonderful opportunity to be able to present Phil to the touring guests. For
three days before this event, I went to St. Charles Hotel to talk to Phil about the Ghost
Walk. Finally, after telling him he would be the star of the show, he reluctantly agreed
to allow the guests into his room.
Just before the event started, I went into his room and told Phil I'd like to have a
picture taken with him. He obliged with his energy orb next to me.

John, a resident who greeted the guests in an undertaker's costume, set playing
cards, a glass of alcohol, ashtray and cigarettes on Phil's table. These are items that
Phil liked, and when you set items such as these around, it is called 'baiting.' We
hoped this 'bait' would bring about a paranormal experience. And it did!
At the 1:30 p.m. tour, I led the guests into Phil's room to speak about his character.
After I had explained about the baiting, a man took a peek into Phil's kitchen and
asked where the cigarette was. What??!!  The cigarette was on the table when we
walked past to enter into Phil's bedroom. And approximately four minutes later, the
cigarette was gone.
HOW EXCITING!

Upon inspection of the alcohol in a glass after the tours were over that afternoon, the
liquid was lower in the glass than when first poured. This was another exciting
moment!  Phil came through for us! woooo hoooo!!!
I'd like to thank Janet and the Carson City Visitors Center for the invitation,  Linda, the hotel manager for allowing
this fabulous hotel to be part of the ghost walk and to all the guests who took the tours - you made the day fun! I
especially would like to thank John and the other (live) residents for helping us out this day.  A huge thank you
goes to all the spirit residents....because of you, this hotel is fascinating, interesting and haunted!
Asking a
guest how
she felt
about the St.
Charles
Hotel tour, I
took a
picture of her
as her photo
says it all!
Watch and listen to the EMF detectors
beeping and flashing.
