The 1904 the new-founded city of Sparks grew from the “division point” by the Southern Pacific Railroad, that originally sat in Wadsworth, thirty miles east. Purchasing the local, SPPR first brought in dirt and gravel to fill the floodplain and swamp area. Next, the railroad company returned to Wadsworth, packed up the citizen's houses and belongings, and moved everyone and everything to their new Truckee Meadows site.

The region quickly grew into the beautiful metropolitan it is today by innovation, success and achievements by its townsfolk.

Enjoy the city's rich history in this text and photo journey. Sparks, Nevada - the Jewel of Northern Nevada.
